Hans van den Eijnde RIP 28/2/2020

We count the late Hans vd Eijnde amongst the most valued colleagues we have had through our IFSDA activities.

Hans’ huge contributions to the philatelic community by way of his work in support of the NVPH & IFSDA will be detailed elsewhere… In essence the present strength of both these organisations is largely due to Hans.

For our part suffice it to say that we couldn’t have wished for a warmer welcome to the IFSDA Board than we received from Hans back in 2006 & 2007; nor a more committed Secretary-General during our years as IFSDA Presidents. Whatever the task, Hans always performed magnificently.

Hans was such a broadly experienced Dealer. He served a classic apprenticeship in his youth, then worked together with his Father and further developed the business travelling extensively even to diverse destinations such as Indonesia, wherever he could create philatelic opportunities. All this of course created a vast inventory of memories,
stories & anecdotes that he would share when some current situation triggered a flashback. Always entertaining!

For us the true pleasure of knowing Hans was to appreciate his humanity and his personal warmth. Always happy, even making the best of things as health issues beset him in the final years. Generosity in person:
Wherever Hans appeared there were always thoughtful gifts for his friends. He was an awesome travel companion, instinctively knowing the better of whatever option was possible. Great food and fine jenever.
Hans was a true bon vivant. And he hated waiting in lines!

Hans cared about the important things. Like right or wrong. Or doing things excellently. And above all enjoyment of his beloved wife Helma,
daughters Jozien & Sandra together with their husbands and the grandkids. The vdEijnde camping holidays were legendary!

Hans… a delight to have had you as a colleague. A role model for a
full life, well-lived. RIP.
